Next year’s Parade of Homes will be in Delaware County again
The homebuilders’ trade association has chosen a setting among the 9th, 10th and 12th holes of the Northstar Golf Club near Sunbury for the showcase June 13-28.
Readers may recall I wrote two months ago that Fischer Homes had committed to 48 lots within Northstar’s Kenley neighborhood where the parade will take place.
Northstar developers Robert Weiler Co. and Nationwide Realty Investors Ltd. have more than 1,300 residences planned in and around the 7,500-yard championship golf course designed by PGA player John Cook.
The golf course setting is the first for the Parade of Homes since the builders went to Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City in 2007.
“(A golf course) is attractive because of the scenery it creates and the amenities like the clubhouse,” BIA Executive Director Jim Hilz told me. “There are all sorts of bike and pedestrian trails and ponds that will make it pretty neat.”
The 1,700-acre housing development includes 810 acres of open space.
Nationwide Realty and Weiler Co. also have about 435 acres set aside for commercial development at the Interstate 71 interchange with Routes 36/37, near where a retail outlet mall and other commercial projects are proposed.
The BIA has long found Delaware County as fertile ground for the home tour. This year, developer Edwards Land Co. hosted 12 builders at its Trail’s End at Route 315 and Home Road. The parade ends its two-week run Sunday.
Nationwide Realty, by the way, also hosted the 2013 tour at its Jerome Village development in Union County. Weiler Co. also has hosted parades, such as Hawk’s Nest in Dublin in 1998.
“The parade is a great place to kick off Northstar,” Hilz said, “and bring it to the public.”
